Stacy_Epps-Ruff_Draft-2007-FTD

One event stands out in emcee/songstress/musical super-heroine Stacy Epps’ memory as a pivotal point in her evolution. In 2005, she visited Cape Town, South Africa for six weeks. Early into her trip, she was hanging out at a local hip-hop club when fate threw a golden moment her way. “This guy came up to me and asked me if I was Stacy Epps,” she recounts, still blown by the experience a full year later. “It just blew me away that he recognized me, that people really research me to even find out what I look like. Then they played my record in the club. It was just amazing to me how far my music had spread, and that people in the Muthaland were familiar with and appreciated my music.” The song the deejay played that night was “Eye”, a track from MF DOOM and Madlib’s collaboration album Madvillainy (Stone’s Throw, 2004) which Stacy guest appeared on, propelling her to buzz status on the independent hip-hop scene. And her chance encounter that night in Cape Town was, much like the song itself, one more in a long procession of signs that line the road to her destiny as a vocalist without boundaries, a singing, rapping, vibing conductor of emotion, soul and sweet spirit. Like all superheroes, it is a destiny that took her a while to fully embrace.

Arts The Beatdoctor - Transitions - 2007

With his debut-EP Fragments (Unexpected, February 2006), Dutch beatsmith Arts the Beatdoctor showed his musical diversity with a collection of jazz-inflicted hiphop-tracks which were mostly characterized by their nightly atmosphere. With his full-length debut album Transitions he continues on this road in a truely original way. The album features 15 tracks, and is the product of 3 years of sampling, tweaking and composing. It stirs up a complex stew of emotions: melancholy being one of the most tongue-catching ingredients, supplemented by foreboding, a few tablespoons of tension and a few splashes of release. Comparisons to artists such as DJ Shadow, Krush and RJD2 spring to mind with his blend of atmospheric and cinematic hip hop beats. Apart from the aforementioned artists, Arts finds his inspiration in jazz and classical music: “What really gets to me are the harmonies used. There's a lot of stuff that's about ‘playing wrong notes, but making them sound right’. For that quality, jazz is a good starting point if you want to make music that's surprising, exciting.” With featurings by Pete Philly, Skiggy Rapz and The Proov, Transitions became a very personal and introspective album which can't be left unnoticed by anyone interested in true music. Transitions will be released in Japan in collaboration with P-Vine Records. European releasedate coming soon!

Liberation is a collaboration between MC Talib Kweli and producer Madlib. It was made available for free download from Stones Throw's website, and Kweli & Madlib's Myspace pages for the first week of 2007, beginning New Year's Eve 2006. It was removed about a week later. One cover for the album is an adaptation of a piece by guerrilla artist Banksy, and an alternate cover (given away as a print-ready download) is a collage of Talib Kweli, a dollar sign, and the Statue of Liberty. The album is now available for purchase for a limited time through online specialty stores.

How many times have you heard stories of extraordinary people with not so ordinary gifts? Not So Fairytale lives with an abundance of talent, almost as if it was handed to them with a purpose, destined, preordained? Not often. In fact if every one had a story like that would you listen? Probably not. In reality, people like this man are few and far between. His name is Hochii, and his story started on the soil of Anaheim, the Sector 9, on April 10, 1979. a South Russian and self proclaimed alcoholic, Hochii has been immersed in the scene for more than 10 years strong. With influences ranging from Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, to Frank Zappa and Richard Pryor, its no wonder why he can best be described as a witty, gun toting, and revolutionary comedian. Fascinated with poetry through high school and with the help of his then current English and Sociology teachers, Hochii began writing his own compositions. This would become the building blocks of his career. Naturally, he developed his own style and morphed from page poet to a spoken word MC. The same school that had provided nourishment for a young Hochii, would also provide one of the most influential persons of his life, Kangbai Suarray. How do a South Russian and African from Sierra Leone blend? Damn well. The two would become best friends and counter parts on stage, forming the Orange County based Hip Hop /Rock group, Students of Life. These were the best times of my life, we had created a pretty nice buzz through the industry*, but as with all good things, SOL (Students of Life), would be disbanded leaving the door wide open for the next chapter in Hochiis life. Change is sometimes necessary for forward movement.* In 2004, a chance meeting would lead to an explosion of music, stage shows, and connections. D.J. Rallo, co-founder of Technicali and budding producer, was introduced to Hochii at a local show, and musically, the sparks flew. DJ Rallo provided solace in the form of beats and a studio, while Hochii provided the now battle tested, honed and unmistakable sound that he has developed. One year later, Hochii would release his first SOLO debut album, Bullets through the Speaker. The first Single, The Fresh Coast feat. Ariano and 2MEX, has been well received and is quickly becoming and underground classic. To date, Hochii has been blessed to work with such artists as L.M.N.O and 2-Mex from the Visionaries, Sean Price of the Boot Camp Click, Casual of Hieroglyphics, R.B.X. of the Dogg Pound, MCs Phooba and Trek Life from L.A., Ariano, Maylay, and thelostARt from the up and coming crew Technicali. Production has been equally as impressive including DJ Rhettmatic of the world famous Beat Junkie Crew, DJ Rallo (Technicali), L.D. (Up Above/Technicali), DJ Flic of Verbal Threat, Not Guilty Productions, and Loops Malodic of Glory. So where can you find Hochii? Usually at your local bar enjoying good Scotch and meaningful conversation with anybody with an open mind that is. I love doing what I do and what I do is something you can appreciate, whether or not you like Hip Hop.* The Love is Evident. So is the savvy traveler that comes out when he talks about how he got to where he is today. Ive been through a lot. Ive traveled a lot [US, Europe, the Middle East , Africa, Asia and the list goes on and on] and theres things thats changed me into who I am right now, I have a deep background of warrior blood and I hope to share that with everyone I ever meet. With Hochiis ability to turn everyday life, trivial and major, into classic music, you can guarantee he will continue to travel, perform, and share his witty personality and non-traditional warrior ways

ААААААА OLIO КАЧАЙ по любому это тема!!!!!!!

вот тоже дельная вещь!!!!!!

You've got your rappers and you've got your Rappers, the type of rhymer with a grip on their language and energy that can take you on a journey over the beat. Verse is one of these. And one who, incidentally, can make his own beats. This time around, as executive producer of his first solo, he gives us a look at some freaky-ass styles set up and shot down with the fun of a merry-go-round in a shooting gallery.

inguistics consists of 3 MC's - Kasper, IQ, and Entity. All solo acts, Kasper and Entity joined together with a talented group of MC's called Kastlevania in the 1990's and early 2000. They won the San Diego music award for best new hip-hop, but soon the group started breaking up and going their own ways. IQ was busy working on a mix CD with his company "Intelligence Records" that he founded with his cousin Jay War. Jay was a long time friend of Kasper and hit him up to see if he wanted to get involved with the Intelligence Records project, the mix CD featuring some of the best up-and-coming hip-hop artists around Southern California. Eventually Kasper and IQ we're creating many songs together and decided to put one together with Kasper's old friend Entity. At that studio session, they realized how strong they were as a group, and decided to make an album together. 3 different styles from 3 different places in Southern California. Entity from Texas originally bringin the southern style, Kasper growin up with east coast hip-hop and IQ growin up with west coast influence somehow combine to form the ultimate group with a unique sound.

Insane Clown Posse are a cartoonish metal/rap band with a vaunted live show that features open fires, chainsaws, liters of soda dousing the audience (Faygo being the group's favorite brand), and more emphasis on performance art than the performance of music. In the world of the late '90s, that was more than enough to get them a recording contract with a major label, though the release of their 1997 album The Great Milenko came with a bit of controversy. Now just a duo, ICP were originally formed in 1989 as a hardcore Detroit rap group called Inner City Posse. After combusting in 1991, the only members left, Violent J (born Joseph Bruce) and Shaggy 2 Dope (born Joseph Utsler), slightly altered the name to reflect the fact that they had been visited by the Carnival Spirit, which ordered them to carry word of the impending apocalypse by touring the nation and releasing six "Joker Cards" (popularly known as LPs) with successive revelations of the final judgment. The first, Carnival of Carnage, appeared in 1992 on their own Psychopathic Records label. The group became notorious in Detroit's underground scene, but several tours around the region failed to ignite much more than the rage of area leaders.

After the release of 1994's The Ringmaster, ICP began to get a bit of attention as a possible follower of cartoon metal bands like Gwar and Green Jelly. Jive Records signed the group and released The Riddle Box in 1995, but the record bombed and ICP returned to the ranks of the indies. Just one year later, Hollywood Records gambled on the band and spent more than one million dollars while ICP recorded their new album, The Great Milenko. On the day of release in 1997, however, Hollywood pulled the record, citing obscene lyrics and gruesome content -- possibly a move by its owner, Disney, to deflect criticism of its practices by the Southern Baptist Federation. In a bizarre twist, yet another major label, Island Records, stepped in to release the album and capitalize on the notoriety ICP had garnered. That notoriety only increased thanks to several incidents that kept them in the headlines: J was arrested after clubbing an audience member with his microphone in late 1997, and shortly thereafter, the group's tour bus ran off the road, leaving J with a concussion. Next, the group and their entourage were involved in a brawl at a Waffle House in Indiana, and both members eventually pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct charges. All the chaos took its toll, as J suffered a panic attack in April 1998 while on-stage in Minnesota. However, all of the publicity helped expand the group's cult following to the point where their next album, the 1999 concept record The Amazing Jeckel Brothers, debuted in the Top Five. As evidenced by the numerous different collectible covers for The Amazing Jeckel Brothers, ICP had become a virtual merchandising machine, complete with comic books to flesh out their elaborate "Dark Carnival" mythology; they also wrote and starred in their own straight-to-video movie, Big Money Hustlas, and made guest appearances at wrestling events. The group spent the summer of 1999 bickering with various tourmates (Coal Chamber in particular), and played at the ill-fated Woodstock '99. Early in 2000, Shaggy collapsed on-stage, but the cause was deemed to be nothing more than a combination of the flu and low blood sugar; however, while staging a wrestling event several months later, Shaggy fell off of a steel cage, breaking his nose and cheekbone. Still, ICP managed to make it into the studio to record a follow-up album, and Big Money Hustlas was finally released that summer. On Halloween 2000, the group issued their sixth album, which apparently did not count (as all the other albums had) as a "joker card" (in the ICP fantasy world, the sixth joker card was supposed to signal the apocalypse). Similar to Guns N' Roses' Use Your Illusion, the album was released in two completely different, separate versions, titled Bizzar and Bizaar. Finally needing to live up to the years of hype, 2002's The Wraith: Shangri-La revealed that the hidden message of their music was always to follow God and make it to heaven. Considering the murder fantasies of "Beverly Kills 50187" and the necrophilic overtones of "Cemetary Girl," this may have been a shock to long-time fans. In 2004 the band released the sixth and final joker card, Hell's Pit, in two separate editions. Both had the same CD but were packed with differnt DVDs. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
